An exam session will be held on October 12th at 2:30 PM for students and the general public.

To Register for the Exam please email exam@w2slh.com or use the following link: https://hamstudy.org/sessions/66ccc483dded4fdd6a79d05b/1

Please pass this on to your family and friends as it is a unique opportunity to both learn and gain the information necessary to pass their Technician Exam.

The ARRL exam fee is $15 for those over 18 and $5 for those under 18, payable to the Reading Radio Club.

New licensees must also pay a $35 FCC fee before their new license will be issued.  This payment process is handled online using the FCC CORES system.   There is no FCC fee for license upgrades.

Editor’s Note:  It is customary to tell FCC License Exam candidates they need to register with the FCC and obtain a FRN — FCC Registration Number — prior to taking the FCC License Exam.   This registration is performed on-line.  The FRN will be issued upon completion and submission of the forms.    The hamstudy, org website mentioned above introduces the FRN requirement.  However, there are no detailed instructions provided on that page describing how or where to request assignment of an FRN.

The Cumberland Amateur Radio Club has instructions posted in its website in its Know-How Resources page
These instructions will take you, step-by-step, through the process of registering with the FCC CORES system, requesting an FRN, and then associating your FRN with your CORES account.

And, the Cumberland Amateur Radio Club has a separate, newer document that describes the process of applying for a CORES account, requesting an FRN, associating your FRN with your CORES account, and navigating the FCC fee payment system.  For a person making a first-time application for CORES and FRN you should begin reading at the PART B heading — Pages 12-15.   Bookmark this webpage and return to it after you have passed your license exam and are ready to pay your FCC fee.
